It’s a Classic Kinda Day: Strawberry
Hello everyone.
This week we will be creating the Strawberry block from my Classics range. Strawberry is one of the blocks from a quilt I made many years ago.
To make this block you will need the following templates.
The template kits for all my Classics are available through Sue Daley stockists and can be bought directly through Patchwork With Busyfingers. This block should measure 12½” when pieced together (12″ finished).
Many of these blocks can be machine or hand-pieced, depending on your preferences and what you feel most comfortable with. I personally prefer to hand-piece these blocks.
Follow the traditional hand piecing instructions and diagrams to make the block.
Join the 4-B pieces to piece A working around the outside using one continuous piece of thread.
Join pieces C and D together in a circle as shown in the diagram.
Finger press.
Sew the centre block to the circle making sure you line up the seams as shown in the diagram.
Sew triangle E pieces to the outside of the circle as shown in the diagram.
Sew pieces F and G to the outside working around the outside using one continuous piece of thread.
Press carefully. The block should now measure 12 ½” square.
Once complete, the block should look similar to the following.
These Classics blocks look amazing in all different fabrics! You can change up the look so easily just by experimenting with fabric placement.
Here are some basic quilt layout ideas you can try.
I would love for you to share your work, so use the #suedaleyclassics when posting to social media.
