It’s a Classic Kinda Day: Star of the Night
Hello everyone.
Our Classics block for this week is Star of the Night. To create this block you will need the following templates.
The template kits for all my Classics are available through Sue Daley stockists and can be bought directly through Patchwork With Busyfingers. This block should measure 12½” when pieced together (12″ finished).
Many of these blocks can be machine or hand-pieced, depending on your preferences and what you feel most comfortable with. I personally prefer to hand-piece these blocks.
Following the hand piecing instructions sew 5-A pieces together as shown in the diagram.
Finger press the seams.
Sew 4-D pieces to the A piece as shown in the diagram.
Finger press the seams.
Sew 1-C and 1-CR piece to 1-B piece as shown in the diagram.
Press carefully.
Sew 1-E and 1-ER pieces to the BCCR piece as shown in the diagram.
Press Carefully.
Sew 1-F piece to the BCCRER piece as shown in the diagram.
Make 4
Press carefully.
Sew the 4-BCCRER pieces to the AD piece using one continuous thread as shown in the diagram.
Finger press the seams.
The block should now measure 12½” square and should look like this once complete.
As I have mentioned many times, it is a lot of fun to experiment with your own fabric placement. Here are some basic quilt layouts you can try.
