It’s a Classic Kinda Day: Four Buds
Good Morning!
This week I wanted to show you the Four Buds block. Four Buds is another block from a quilt I made many years ago.
To make this Classic block you will need the following templates.
The template kits for all my Classics are available through Sue Daley stockists and can be bought directly through Patchwork With Busyfingers. This block should measure 12½” when pieced together (12″ finished).
Many of these blocks can be machine or hand-pieced, depending on your preferences and what you feel most comfortable with. I personally prefer to hand-piece these blocks.
Following the hand piecing instructions sew the 4-B pieces around piece A as shown in the diagram.
Finger press the seams.
Sew 1-D piece and 1-E piece together as shown in the diagram.
Finger press seams.
Sew 1-DR piece and 1-ER piece together as shown in the diagram.
Press carefully.
Take a DE set and DRER set and sew to 1-C piece as shown in the diagram.
Finger press the seams.
Using one continous thread sew each set into each corner of the block.
Press carefully.
The block should now measure 12½” square.
The block should look like this once complete.
You can easily change the look of these blocks by experimenting with fabric placement. Here are a few basic layouts for you to try.
Remember share your creations using the #suedaleyclassics hashtag on social media so I can take a look!
