Rose of Kaleigh Sew Along Step 1
Hello everyone and welcome to the Rose of Kaleigh Sew Along!
I’m very excited to start this Sew Along and can’t wait to see your progress. If you are posting any pictures on Instagram please tag me (@suedaleydesigns) and use the #roseofkaleighsal hashtag so I can see all of your work!
This week we are starting off by making some of the centre flowers as indicated in the image below. If you are using your own fabrics, keep in mind where these flowers will end up and think about your colour selection.
To get started you will need your Sue Daley Sewline Glue Pen, Milliners Needles, Rotating Mat, Superior Bottom Line Thread and 3/4″ Hexagon papers and acrylic template. All of these supplies can be purchased through your favourite Sue Daley Stockist. If you are just joining in, my previous Rose of Kaleigh blog post has the full requirements list and link to a grid layout of the quilt. You can view this here.
Let’s start!
STEP 1
Cutting instructions:
From the main floral
30 – 3/4″ Hexagons
From the mustard swiss
5 – 3/4″ Hexagons
Constuction:
Using my glue pen method, construct the following. If you are new to EPP, you can download a set of my instructions here, or visit my youtube channel to watch my tutorials.
Make 5
NOTE : Fussy-cutting these flowers will create a lovely effect – but keep in mind you will need 6 repeats per flower. You will need more fabric to achieve this, so make sure you think about placement before cutting so you have enough fabric. Depending on the repeat you may need more fabric than what I’ve listed in the requirements. Since I was working from a 10″ stacker, my flowers are not fussy-cut.
That’s it for this week – just 5 hexagon flowers!
See you next time.
